NFL week 15 turned out to be the best ever for me from a fantasy football standpoint. I was neck and neck with my opponent through the early games when Jamaal Charles took command and dropped five TDs on him. He still had a chance with AJ Green on Sunday night, but that fizzled out. The icing on the cake for me was a 24 point performance from Justin Tucker on Monday night and a final tally of 89-51.
That puts me in the fantasy bowl for the second year in a row, tops the previous weekly score of 86, and leaves me with a 58 point lead in total points with one game remaining. All of those are chances for some decent money.
Despite the big point total for the week, my scouting report for the week was only a mixed success.
Matthew Stafford was something of a bust last night instead of the comeback kid that I had predicted. That concerns me, since I have little trust in my second option, Andy Dalton. I hate to be chasing QB points at this stage, but I might have to look at making a pickup at that position.
Reggie Bush got most of the work for the Lions last night and had a decent outing at 9 points, but it turned out to be a good move to play Jackson instead. He managed 13 pts despite a pretty low yardage game because of his two TD runs.
Sitting Vincent Jackson turned out to be a big mistake that almost cost me the high game lead. However, Justin Tucker's 61 yard field goal and its 6 pts at the end of last night's game was some sort of FFL immaculate redemption. I'll still look at the matchups this week, but I'm pretty sure the fantasy football gods will be angry with me if I sit him again.
I've stuck with the Vikings DST because they have two great return guys, but teams have been beating them lately. I hate to go chasing TDs at this position too, but the Browns are available against the Jets this coming week and that might be a good matchup. We'll have to see.
In the meantime, I'll bask in the glow of victory for a couple of days.
