Only 78%?

Here was a head-turner on Memeorandum this morning:

Poll: 78 Percent of Young Women Approve of Weiner

Believe it or not, I'm going to leave the obvious jokes in that headline alone and stick with the more important question, which is what's wrong with young women these days? 

A quick bit of digging reveals that to be the wrong question, because the poll wasn't taken by young women in general, but a very distinct subcategory of young women: Sugar Babies. 

Sugar daddy dating website SeekingArrangement.com found that 78 percent of female clients aged 18-26 approve of Weiner.

The website, which connects wealthy patrons with attractive clients, surveyed over 18,000 of its female members and discovered that 63 percent of all women surveyed approved of the New York City mayoral hopeful, with the highest approval ratings coming from the 18-26 demographic.

I love that "connects wealthy patrons with attractive clients" bit of coyness. It's much more polite than calling them tricks and hookers.

So given the actual subset of young women we are talking about, is it really any surprise that they approve of Weiner's behavior? In fact, 78% approval from the younger female demographic at that website and 63% overall seems way too low. Maybe he does better with the sex workers who are at least honest enough to admit what they do for a living.
