I'm still not ready to say much about the mass murder in Newtown. Partly because it doesn't seem right yet and partly because gaps remain in knowing exactly what happened. But there is something I briefly want to get off my chest this afternoon.
If we are going to do all we can to end these mass shootings without creating a cure that is worse than the disease, people with different viewpoints are going to have to work together. Those who have chosen to indulge in name-calling and insults the last two days, from any side, are not helping that one bit. It is, of course, not my place or right to tell anyone to shut up, but I wish we had leaders on all sides with the courage to shame the crass amongst us and bring the many people of good will together.
I wish. I pray.
