You want to know why things sometimes seem to be heading right down the toilet these days? Well one reason is that too many of us are either dishing out or accepting pure bullshit without batting an eye.
President Obama:
"It's not going to get easier, it's going to get harder. So we might as well do it now; pull off the Band-aid, eat our peas," Obama said at a White House news conference.
"We take President Obama's comment on the need to 'eat our peas' as a reference to the first lady's push to get all Americans to eat a more healthy diet as part of the Let's Move campaign," Pete Klaiber, the council's director of marketing.
Stop it, Pete. Stop it.
The President of the United States just equated eating your group's product to all the pleasure and goodness of ripping a Band-aid off a wound. You can take it how you want, Pete, but everyone with half a brain knows that what you said is complete bullshit. I'm pretty sure you know it's complete bullshit too, but you and probably your bosses are too whipped to do the right thing.
I'm not saying that getting all huffy on the president like those broccoli folks did to H.W. would be the right reaction. That was pretty silly at the time and the only reason it got so much press was a Republican was president. But c'mon, Pete, you didn't have to completely roll over. Maybe a little "everybody loves peas" mild retort would have been in order?
Ah well, blatant bullshit has been committed. The emporer has no clothes and Pete Klaiber and the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council would rather bullshit their customers than defend their product.
Congratulations, Pete Klaiber. You are the first winner of the Fish Fear Me Bullshit Nation Award.*
*(Pete: For $50 and a self-addressed, stamped envelope I will send you your very own certificate.)
