America's fleet of space shuttles begins their round of final missions today. Discovery is slated for a 4:50 p.m. EST liftoff this afternoon. Endeavor is currently slated for an April 19 launch. Atlantis is currently targeted to lift off on the final space shuttle mission on June 28th.
The immediate family will be gathering down in South Carolina around that time. In fact, April 19 is right in the middle of it. I'm pessimistic that the timing will actually work out, but at about 420 miles it might be possible for a few of us to do a run down there and back.
Has anybody here ever seen a launch from Kennedy Space Center and can you tell me what the story is?
