- Freezing rain overnight made for some treacherous driving early this morning. The salt trucks are out now, but it was a little white knuckle driving there for a bit. If your travel plans for Thanksgiving involve going through the Twin Cities you should keep an eye on the weather, as they are talking perhaps up to 6" of snow on Wednesday this week.
- I'm officially playing the spoiler role in FFL. My record is 2-8 and it has been a bit of a hard luck season. I've lost five games by a grand total of ten points. Even worse, if I had zigged instead of zagged with one player out of my lineup in four of those games I would have won. The coach is so fired when this year is done.
- I'm still not sure what to think about the TSA scanner/enhanced pat down issue. Every time I ponder it I end up in "on the other hand" land. It seems obvious to me that subjecting law abiding citizens to either treatment goes against the 4th Amendment. On the other hand, those processes are designed to thwart a tactic that nearly succeeded last Christmas. What's the TSA to do instead? I keep hearing things along the line of what El Al does, but that's for less than 4 million passengers per year. There are over 800 million in the US each year. Can you scale up the El Al method to that degree and still keep it effective? Maybe more later. In the meantime, this article ponders if the new TSA processes will push people to drive instead of fly, leading to more deaths since air travel is safer than driving. It wouldn't surprise me a bit.
- It's always good to see Gawker get its ass kicked, but it's particularly sweet after they taunted Sarah Palin about her knowledge of "Fair Use." Then a federal judge turns around and slams Gawker with an order to take their unauthorized excerpts of her new book off the web. Bwahahaha...And I hope the publisher wins monetary damages.
