I saw that Playboy hatef**k disaster before they pulled it from their site. If you want to see it for yourself, Redstate has screencaps(NSFW). A nasty bit of letting the mask slip I think. Anyway, I thought the whole thing had pretty much passed until I saw this (via Dan at PW):
And why would they do that? Well, the author of the above wonders if it may be related to parent Time-Warner's business relationship with Playboy. I can't say if that's true, but it's a legitimate question to ask. Confirmation that Christopher was let go, but not much more detail at this point.
This is a shame for a couple of reasons. Obviously it's tough for Christopher, a good writer that I didn't agree with on some things, but I suspect that he will land on his feet. It's also too bad that it calls into question the integrity of Politics Daily, a site I had only recently discovered through, wait for it, a Tommy Christopher post there. I was thinking that would become a daily stop, but now I'm going to have to see some answers from them on why they fired Christopher.
That stupid Playboy post is still doing damage, three days after it was pulled. It's like an STD as blog post or something.
Update: Tommy Christopher has posted some more information. I'd still like to know if Playboy put the heat on Time-Warner/AOL and if that was why they wouldn't post any stories about this, and fired Christopher. AOL has the right to publish(or not) whatever they want, of course, and hire/fire who they wish. And as a consumer, I have the right to judge them accordingly.
