I suspect that we are going to see a lot of this the next two or three months:
The Twins failed to generate any of the buzz in Game 2 that they did in Game 1, falling behind early and eventually getting flattened by the Angels.
The final was 9-1 in the Angels favor. The Twins looked just as flat last night as they did exciting the night before. There were some nice defensive plays, but also a few throws that were ugly. They couldn't generate much in the way of offense for Boof Bonser and you could sense that they just weren't going to get it done last night. They just didn't click and there are going to be games like this until the team has come together. There are too many new players to expect otherwise so Twins fans will have to get used to it for now.
When they do click they will be fun to watch, just like opening night. It's too early to say for sure, but I think that they will come together and play more consistently good ball, only they will be so far behind Cleveland or Detroit at that point that it won't matter for this year. But barring serious injury, this is a good stable team and all of the major players are contractually set for the next few years. They have excellent management/coaching in Ron Gardenhire and Rick Anderson. And the farm teams are stacked with good young pitchers.
It's just going to be a matter of "good" team or "bad" team showing up on any given night. If that kind of thing bugs you, it's going to be a long first half of the season.
