Denny Green is the gift that keeps on giving. Going into last night's game between Chicago and Arizona, I had a 12 pt. lead but my opponent had two Chicago guys going and I had Arizona's kicker. My opponent would tie me for second if I lost or I could possibly tie for first place if I won. The undefeated Bears against the hapless Cardinals though? That lead was looking a bit shaky going into the game.
Not to worry. In the first half, the Cards managed to keep the Bears scoreless. In the second half, the Cards generously kept Chicago's offense from scoring by letting the Bears DST score all the points, as they let the game slip away. Classic, truly classic, Denny Green team play, as any long-time Vikings fan will tell you.
The end result is I won 48-30 and since the division leader ran into Holt(21pts), Owens(18pts), and Shockey(12pts) there's a good chance I'm now tied for first in my division. For dessert, we got to see Denny go ballistic in vintage style after the game. The video is better, but here's the quote:
"The Bears are who we thought they were!" he said, yelling at the top of his lungs and pounding on the podium at his postgame press conference. "Now, if you want to crown them, then crown (them)*! But they are who they thought they were! And we let them off the hook!"
Ahh, memories.
*Hmmm, I do believe AP sanitized that a bit.
