Spoke with Vikings GM Rick Spielman, who told me the same thing he told Ben Goessling; the first thing Norv did upon getting hired by the Vikings was install 10 plays specifically for Cordarrelle Patterson. If you read or heard me at all last year, you know how much I love Patterson, so this is music to my ears. Spielman also told me Norv's success with tight ends was something they were excited about, and he expects a strong season out of Kyle Rudolph.
That's all well and good, but they still have to have somebody who can effectively throw the ball to them, and the rest of the receiving corps. Last year Ponder got so bad, Cassel too on occasion, that teams just laughed at the long ball threat and shut down the short passing game too. And that didn't help AP's running game either.
Everybody is all fired up about Norv Turner and I'm allowing myself to at least be cautiously optimistic. None of it will matter if they don't have a decent QB.
