At this point in the aftermath of Katrina, the mainstream US media were two days into an orgy of hysteria, false reports of rapes and snipers, and whipping a miserable, but fed and watered crowd at the Superdome into a frenzy. It was the most despicable display of media irresponsibility I have ever seen and I was dismayed to see even FOX News get into the act. That was then, this is now:
Staten Island officials sounded increasingly desperate today, asking when supplies will arrive. They blasted the Red Cross for not being there when it counted.
“This is America, not a third world nation. We need food, we need clothing,” Staten Island Borough President Jim Molinaro said today. “My advice to the people of Staten Island is: Don’t donate the American Red Cross. Put their money elsewhere.”
People are starting to run out of essentials now, as would be expected. But why blister the Red Cross, where is the federal government? We're long past the standard of getting help to people that was demanded for Katrina, so where the hell is FEMA?
Update: Ah, I forgot that I can consult the Alinsky playbook for the answer. Let's see...take a little of this...some of that...here we go: Staten Island is mostly white, so obviously the problem here is that Barack Obama just doesn't like white people.
I'd tell you what I really think, but the Alinsky playbook says to fire for effect, not the truth.
