Below the fold you'll find an image of a head on a pole that is a screencap from the season one finale of a TV series called Game of Thrones, which airs on HBO. It originally aired about a year ago and if you wish to see the image in the context in which it aired you can find that here. It appears just briefly and in profile, so it makes sense that nobody realized who it looked like.
The creators of the series however, recently stated that the head was a double of former president George W. Bush:
According to the clip posted online, the former president’s head appears near the end of Season 1 when the character King Joffrey takes Sansa Stark out to see the spiked heads of his enemies, including someone special to her.
“The last head on the left is George Bush,” says one of the creators.
“George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes,” says the other.
“It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement, we just used whatever heads we had around.”
Uh huh.
This is not exactly end of the universe stuff, especially because it appears the dynamic duo are walking things back a bit now:
“What happened was this: we use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can’t afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush. In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise.”
Gotcha. How are those new assholes working for you, guys?
What I will note, just for the record, is the amused and dismissive tone from some lefty sites and commenters. See here, and here, and here.
I'm sure they will handle the next violent imagery regarding President Obama with an equal measure of equanimity.
Hahahahahaha! No, it will be DIFFERENT, and an OUTRAGE!
Book it.
