I guess this would be a nice gesture, but I really don't see it happening:
Favre, who is tied with legendary Viking Jim Marshall for most consecutive NFL starts at 270, has a chance to break the record against the Lions. Or, he could let another QB -- probably Tarvaris Jackson -- take the first snap and hand the ball to Adrian Peterson, thus remaining hand-in-hand with Marshall and keeping both in the record book.
If Favre actually does that on Sunday I will drop everything to sing his praise, but does anyone seriously expect that to happen? And to be fair, is it even a reasonable thing to ask?
In any event, the real question if it does happen should probably be, just which sign of the Apocalypse would it represent?
It's a silly suggestion. It should not have been brought up. Game 16 with nothing on the line, maybe. Game 2, no way.

Well, I don't think it would have much impact on the game, but I do think it's kind of silly. Records should stand or fall on their own.
