Daunte Culpepper has apparently decided to retire from the NFL. I'd like to say I'm surprised at that decision, given that some QB is bound to go down at some point early in the season, but I'm not. Culpepper had a lot of talent, but he could be exasperating at times. He played poorly in 2005 before suffering a bad knee injury and then he got all stupid and egotistical after that. His ego led to clashes with more than one coach and he was likely percieved as a potentially disruptive force on any particular team.
That ego is probably driving his decision now. He could be a backup right now at any number of clubs, but I think he feels that if he can't be the starter then he won't play. Well, that's his right and if that's really what he feels then it's probably best for him to move on with his life. Good luck, Daunte.
Now, who wants to watch some football?
Hard to believe he was a star on top of the world just three years ago.

Yeah, 39 TDs in 2004 against 11 interceptions. Then it all went poof in 2005. He played like crap that season and then came the terrible knee injury. Then he did himself in with both the fans here and the coaches with some really stupid comments and actions.
