Happy April Fools' Day. While the local boys of summer were preparing to take on the Los Angeles Angels, Mother Nature decided to play a little prank on us and left about 7" of new snow yesterday. It was heavy and wet snow too, what's called "heart attack" snow. It may be spring where you are at, but in Minnesota it's still winter for a few more days. This is what it looked like outside as I settled in to catch the Twins season opener last night:
Even more chilling was the webcam view of the new Twins ballpark in downtown Minneapolis:
Opening day 2010 is going to be very interesting if they keep up these early starts. I wonder if MLB will learn to just schedule the Twins for the road that first week and play it safe.
The snow did leave a pretty view this morning with the trees all coated in snow. I stopped for a second on my commute and snapped off a couple of shots along Theodore Wirth Parkway this morning:
The sun is already working on melting this stuff and they say we should be back to around 50 degrees by the end of the week. By next week this will probably be gone and we'll be done with the snow for this season. Unless Al Gore is scheduled to come to town. Then all bets are off.
