It Was Ninety Years Ago Today...
...that the Red Baron met his fate over France. That reminded me of a song from my early childhood and sure enough, it was easy to find on You Tube:
I can't say for sure, but that may have been the first 45 I could call my own. I can't remember any other songs from these guys, but they definitely had the five-year-old market cornered in 1966 with this one.
Heh. Got the album.

I would expect nothing less from the master. Is there anything else noteworthy on it? I only remember this one song from these guys.

Not much memorable, I'll try to find it when I get home. It has "SvsRB", of course. May also have "Snoopy's Revenge" and "Snoopy's Christmas", but I may have just heard those separately.
Oddly, I actually heard "Snoopy's Christmas" years before I heard the original.

Hmm. Without waiting until I get home, I think the album is either this one or this one, but neither cover picture looks familiar.
And it appears that what I called "Snoopy's Revenge" is actually "Return of the Red Baron". Memory fades...

Yeah well, I thought they were British until I read the wikipedia entry yesterday. My siblings and I had very few albums at that time. My parents would buy us the occasional much less expensive 45 and then we would play it on our cheap little record player(to death). It had what was called a "needle", but it was really a nail. Geez did those 45s take a beating.

Well rats. Neglected to check last night so I checked today. The album is actually this one but it has the cover picture of this one (which is the small picture in the top right corner of the first link.
And a third "rats". I didn't get to check watch the video yesterday. I didn't see the dudes goosestepping. Now that's funny, I don't care who y'are.

I'm kind of flabbergasted that they had enough material for an anthology. The goosestepping is funny, but what is cringeworthy funny is everything the dude on the left does during the whole video. It's like they decided that his tambourine didn't fit into this one, so they had to come up with something for him to do.

I had that 45, too.

Oh, and my first record was Midnight Confessions by The Grass Roots. Number One when I bought it.

If by record, you mean "album", then I think mine was one of the Monkees albums from the late 60s. The very first album I bought with my own money was "Dark Side of the Moon". And that wasn't actually an album, it was on 8-track.

To me, a record is anything that plays on a turntable: 78s, 45s, or 33-1/3LPs. It was a 45.
