Careful what you ask for

Hmmm. It could be that the John Edwards campaign staff knows exactly what they are doing here. We just haven't seen what's coming yet and it will, in fact, turn out to be a briliant move.

Then again, maybe they just don't know what they've gotten themselves into...

Give us the Edwards!

We want the Edwards!

(update 2/9) And it looks like they got him. Yesterday, as I read the kinda sorta apologies from Marcotte and McEwen, I at first thought that Edwards might have pulled off a brilliant move. After reading some of the reaction among the left's netroots crowd though, I'm not so sure. It took all of five minutes for a "what took so long" and an "Edwards better keep me happy...or else", mentality to make itself known.

The netroots have proven that they can raise serious money and motivate significant number of voters, at least for congressional races. Now they've stepped up to the national level and it will be interesting to see what happens. Edwards thinks he can ride this tiger(the netroots) through the Democratic primaries and then pivot if he captures the nomination. If that's what he's trying to do, I don't see how he won't at least pick up some significant baggage along the way. Or just get eaten alive in the end, if not by the netroots, by Clinton and Obama. For sure, it will be fun to watch.

I'm not as confident in my predictions as Bryan at Hot Air is, but he has some good points there.
